Well thats me, Yasmin Brouwer. A spontaneous girl from Netherlands, who is recently living in Nepal. In 2012 I flew for the first time to Nepal and I did volunteering work for a Dutch organisation called; “Stichting Veldwerk”. In this period of time i met my current, Nepali partner, Sameer Shakya. This didn’t turned out to be just a vacation love. We kept in contact and traveling back and forth to see each other. In 2015 I made the step to move to Nepal and build up our future together.
In the meantime I started Maya handicrafts. A small company that wants to make the beautiful, Nepali products known in the west and wants to make a platform for Nepali artisans. I work together with the Nepalese entrepreneurs and artisans to make a beautiful collection and a fair trade.
The name Maya handicrafts arose in my Nepali language classes. Maya is the Nepali meaning for love. The thought behind Maya handicrafts is love for craft and the artisans. In this way we are able to support the Nepali, entrepreneurs, artisans and their families in their livelihood. So that means with every purchase you do with us you are contributing to a fair and loving trade.
My dear mom, Merith Poelsma is taking care of the sell in Netherlands and is helping me to make Maya handicrafts a suc6!
